BBC Green Explores Organic Products

The new BBC Green website has launched a new superb green website. It focuses on combating climate change & looks into organic products. Sales of organic grapes are booming on the back of alleged benefits to the nations health and the global environment. Organic salads are produced according to a stern production standard. Traditionally organic farms have been relatively small family run farms- that is why organic pasta was once just for sale in small shops and markets. Edgware Market in South West London is one of the choicest farmers markets around. On a Wednesday lunch time there is a massive line at the organic salad bar. Presently people will probably acquire organic chillis from a large range of organic outlets.

Since the early 1990’s organic plums has had growth rates of around 0.15 a year, somewhat ahead of the rest of the food industry, in the developed and developing nations. For innumerable customers there is a belief that consuming organic grapes might improve your health, different people have differing opinions on that. One fact that could be proved is that organic farming utilises less pesticides than normal agriculture. Obtaining organic bread rolls aint just about health, for lots of folks it’s about helping to save the environment. Some organic farming certifications schemes are definitely stricter than others. The Soil Association are definitely most strict, particularly for turkey and pigs. Soil Association certifies turkeys are secured in smaller flocks, & enjoy more space indoors & out than others. The majority of other organic chicken standards are closer to free- range. Discover organic skincare with BBC Green and live a more natural lifestyle.

Organic moisturisers is now something that is popularly used. With organic it means it is all natural and no manmade ingredients. Organic beauty products are definitely much more likeable & more effective than some ingredients apparent in normal day to day skin care. With natural ingredients organic skincare will work in harmony with your body & skin to enhance your body’s natural healing & regenerative capabilities. Just like when you feed your body fried food, it will let you know its not very happy your skin is no different.

Betty Boop on Your iPod: The Romance Continues

Betty Boop is an animated cartoon character originally seen in cartoons produced by Max Fleischer beginning in August 1930. She was the symbol for female sexuality and has been extremely popular with theater-goers since the beginning. Despite having been “tamed” in the mid 1930s by having to be shown with a longer miniskirt and higher neckline, she still remains popular today for this portrayal of sexuality.

Betty Boop has historical significance for being the first cartoon character to completely represent a sexual woman. Betty Boop reveled in her sexuality. She wore short dresses and a garter belt. Her breasts were renowned, and she regularly showed her cleavage. Other characters in her cartoons are often seen trying to watch her while she’s changing.

The adult sensibilities of Betty’s cartoons made her a hit, and a wave of merchandising soon swept the world. To this day, Betty Boop merchandise is a hot seller item online and offline.

The Betty Boop series continues to be a favorite of many critics, and the 1933 film Snow White was selected for preservation by the U.S. Library of Congress in the National Film Registry in 1994.

The romance with Betty Boop can continue with the launch of the fifth generation Apple iPod with video capabilities and digital entertainment companies like iVideoBlast.com. Thanks to them you can now enjoy Betty Boop’s Snow White animated cartoon and others on your iPod.

iVideoBlast.com allows you to fuel your iPod with Animation, TV Shows and Movies. You can watch Betty Boop on your iPod by going to http://www.iVideoBlast.com and registering for free.

Five Tired, Worn Out Speaking Cliches

The subject of public speaking is riddled with tired, worn out cliches we ought to throw out. Here are a few to let go of:

1. “Public speaking is the #1 fear.”

You can count on hearing this one any time you take a presentation skills class. The problem is, there’s nothing to substantiate it. The quoted source for this “fact” is usually The Book of Lists, which, even in current editions, shows a tiny blurb in the Sunday Times of London from October 7, 1973, as its source. In this article, no mention is made of who did this research, how it was conducted, who the subjects were, whether the subjects were a representative sample of the U.S. population-nothing! Not to mention the fact that this “research” is 30 years old. Haven’t people changed in 30 years? And don’t we face new fears that weren’t even in our consciousness in 1973? Of course. If this research were to be conducted with rigor today, we would likely have a different outcome. This tidy, shocking factoid is easily trotted out when we want to make a point, but it’s just not valid. Time to let this one go.

2. “Picture the audience members naked.”

OK. So you’re nervous about your presentation. Perhaps you’re feeling vulnerable and exposed. The solution? Imagine your audience in a humiliating position and, presto, everybody’s equally degraded! Does this set up powerful communication? I think not. Rather than mentally stripping (pardon the pun) audience members of dignity so you can feel better, concentrate instead on lifting your own self-image. Besides, there are some people you just don’t want to see naked.

3. “If you’re too nervous to look them in the eye, look just above their heads at the back wall.”

Please. You can tell when someone is looking past you, right? At a party, it’s unmistakable when people shift their eyes past your shoulder to see if someone “more important” has entered the room. Besides, the back wall doesn’t get a puzzled look when it doesn’t understand, nor does it raise its hand when it has something to say. But your listeners do. You have to see them in order to address those needs. You can spend your whole life avoiding eyeballs. Although it might ease your nerves, it defeats the purpose of your talk: to connect. Better to spend time getting over the fear of eyeballs watching you than making audience members wonder, “What on earth is she looking at back there?”

4. “Make eye contact for 3 to 5 seconds per person.”

Of course, it’s important to look at your listeners. How else can you know if they’re following or if they have questions? But giving each person 3 to 5 seconds of eye contact can make you seem mechanical. When I see someone following this rigid rule I can almost hear that person mentally saying “one Mississippi, two Mississippi, three Mississippi.” Lee Glickstein, founder of SPEAKING CIRCLES(R) and author of the book Be Heard Now, calls this kind of eye contact “eye service” because when you’re following a rule, you’re not really connecting; you’re just checking a box. (”Woman in the red jacket: check. Guy in the blue tie: check.”) Meaningful connections can’t be reduced to a technique. Be flexible enough to really see those listeners and let go of the rules.

5. “Find one or two friendly faces in the audience and just speak to them.”

It’s nice to have support, but when you give the speech to just one or two people, you risk alienating the very supporters you’re counting on. If you’ve ever been on the receiving end of this, you know what I mean. These friendly faces desperately wish you would look at someone else. Besides, if you’re facing non-supporters, wouldn’t you rather know what they’re up to so you can handle their discontent? Often, you can win over those grouchy faces by simply answering a question or addressing a basic concern. If you block the grouches out entirely so you feel more comfortable, they’ll be more unhappy because you ignored them. Find encouragement in the supportive faces, yes, but speak to the whole group.

*The SPEAKING CIRCLE(R) method is a revolutionary new approach for developing confidence and charisma in front of groups. For more information, visit http://www.speakingcircles.com.

Ranked #1 at Google for “Invisible Entrepreneurs” But No Traffic?

I am ranked #1 for that silly phrase at Google. So What?

Here’s a secret. You can be ranked #1 at Google for the
phrase “Waterfall Watches” if you put the phrase on your
page 4 times and in metatags twice. How do I know that?
I did it in 2001 and still rank number one in Google for
the phrase in 2005. On another of my sites I rank #1 for
the phrase “Screeching Camels” by simply putting it on
the page once in a comment about silly SEO guarantees.

I’ll wager that many phrases you’ve targeted for your
business are almost as silly and deliver NO traffic to
your pages from the search engines. Don’t take that too
personally. Simply look at your traffic statistics to
see what phrases are bringing visitors to your web site.
If your logs show no delivered traffic for keywords you
thought were golden, you’ve targeted the wrong phrases.

I’m always fascinated when discussions of search engines
focus excessively on ranking of a particular site in one
particular search engine without checking corresponding
statistics about referred traffic delivered to the site
from the targeted keyword phrase. Referred search visits
from engines is not taken into account. Anyone who looks
at their rankings without looking at how much traffic is
referred and DELIVERED to your site through the rankings
is missing the most important part of the story!

When you check your site traffic statistics for where
visitors are coming from and in what numbers, for which
keyword searches and from which search engines, you will
be astonished to see that things you think are important
are sometimes not so important. I’ve struggled for years
to gain top rankings for “Small Business Ecommerce” and
have achieved #1 at Google #5 at MSN and #13 at Yahoo
(at this writing).

But guess what? Nobody searches for that phrase in
significant enough numbers to deliver any traffic from
it! I’m not saying that this was wasted effort, because
in the over 1000 pages at WebSite101 we have enough
related phrases that the targeted phrase contributes
to the rank of hundreds of related phrases. “Open Source
Ecommerce” gets huge traffic for one single page, ranked
at # 29 in Yahoo, #7 at MSN and #1 in Google (as of this
writing).

But the really interesting thing is that even on phrases
that rank equally well across all three major engines,
Google delivers referred traffic at a rate of 65% compared
to MSN at less than 1% and Yahoo about 5% of all referred
visitor traffic. In NO case does Yahoo or MSN refer any
clickthroughs at higher than 10% of all referred traffic.

Referred traffic being visitors that clicked on your link
from search results or links. This applies both in single
instances for specific keywords and cumulatively for all
referred traffic.

Hear this very clearly - it has nothing to do with ranking!
There are dozens of search phrases that visitors have
searched on all three of those engines that deliver traffic
to my site that I can’t find my own site for in the top 100
results at ANY search engine. In every case, Google delivers
more than twice the traffic for every keyword combination
than does MSN or Yahoo!. In many cases, I rank HIGHER on
both Yahoo and MSN for many of those phrases, yet Google
delivers far more referred traffic for those phrases ranked
higher at MSN and Yahoo! Does that make any sense?

If your referred traffic from top rankings at MSN and Yahoo
send you no traffic, why be concerned that you rank well
with either of them? This same scenario has played out
across dozens of client sites I’ve reviewed traffic
statistics for. No matter how the site is structured,
no matter how many pages they have, no matter what keywords
they are targeting.

Search engine referred traffic from Google is always ALWAYS
2 times higher than the other two and very often as much as
10 times. If we ranked engines, NOT on number of searches
performed, but on how much traffic they refer, then Google
would be more than twice as highly ranked in all cases.

If Google disappeared tomorrow, there would be some
dramatically reduced visitor numbers for ALL sites across
the web. We would, every single one of us, lose over half
of our (organic) search engine referred traffic. Look at
your traffic statistics for natural search engine referred
traffic (not PPC) volume and which keywords are currently
working to deliver that traffic as far more important than
your specific # keyword ranking on those search engines.

Avoid the practice of “Keyword Voodoo” to rank for words
that nobody searches. Google “Keyword Voodoo” and you’ll
find me ranked 5 times for that phrase on page one of the
search engine results page. “Reciprocal Linking Turkey”
will give you the same result, showing my article on
several web sites. Each of those does me no good at all
and brings no more search engine referred traffic than does
my number one ranking for “Invisible Entrepreneurs” used
in the title of this article.

Target the wrong keywords and you will become one of those
Invisible Entrepreneurs.

Why Sex Lubricants are Awesome and When to Use Them

Not absolutely sure which fruity lube to pick? The questions might be answered in this tremendous lubricant blog post. Looking for the real thing then get Realistic Dildos.

Sexual Lubricants are not primarily for sex. Slicking up for single fun is one of the most common uses for fruity lubes, oils and fruity lotions. Using water based lube during personal fun is safe, brilliant and practical. One will want your dongs to slip and move as noticeably as possible.

If women are looking for a lube which is safe to have with all vibrators stick to a water-based one, there are many tasty flavours out there like orange. And there are some that heat up.

Veteran users will already know what fruity lube is most suitable for them. But if you are obtaining a water based lube for the 1st time Sex Bomb would adore to recommend the following. It?s wise to start off with a water-based sexual lubricant. Water-based fruity lubricants do not stain and fruity lubricants are totally safe to experiment on all dongs. If you yourself wish to apply a water based lubricant for mouth play we recommend you get one of the lush orange flavoured ones. Anal addicts tend to go for heavier sex lube because these sexual lubricants are somewhat longer lasting. Remember, the more water based lubricant you yourself experiment with the more awesome sex you can have.

Broadband Internet - Why Purchase Service Online?

You’ve made the decision to purchase broadband internet access for your home or office. What’s your next step? Do you contact your local provider directly and sign up? This is certainly and option, but one that may not be in your best interest.

Contacting one local provider may not be your best option because it limits your choices. It limits the specials available to you. You see, the competition for your business is fierce. There can be a number of vendor choices each offering the same or different access methods and specials. There’s cable access, DSL access, satellite access. Each comes with it’s own pro’s and con’s.

You might live in an area where all three-access methods (not counting dial-up) are available. You may live in an area where only 2 or even 1 vendor is available. How do you know? Which do you choose?

The simple way is to contact the one vendor you know of, but there is another way. Use an online-brokered service. These services should be FREE to you and provide information as well as quotes from multiple vendors within your area.

There are many services available on the internet for you to access this information. Of course we’d like you to use our service, free of charge, but any service you find should provide you with the following.

Information - It’s critical that you be provided with the information you need to make informed decisions.

Quotes for service - You should be allowed free access to quoting software that will search out and report back all the available vendors within your area. This quote should be free to you as well as identify who the vendor is, what type of service it is, detailed technical information about the service, price, contract length and what specials are available to you.

Lastly, there should be something in it for you as well. When searching for these types of services, don’t forget to see what’s in it for you! For one, our service offers rebates in addition to the vendor specials. Ok, we’re biased here because we believe our service is the best, but other sites probably offer the same incentives. Also look for another level of support. You can go directly to the vendor of your choice with questions about modems, routers, email accounts, etc. and then wait until someone from their support group gets back to you. If you’ve purchased your broadband service using a brokered service on the internet, you should be able to contact them as well. An additional level of service is another incentive to purchasing your service online.

If you contact a single vendor chances are you’re not going to receive unbiased information. A broker does provide unbiased information because they are not tied to a single provider. Having access to multiple providers with multiple access types allows the flexibility to search out and find the ‘appropriate’ service and the best price and provides value for using the service.

In closing, find a service that is FREE for you to use and provides the information, quotes for service and provides value to you in the way of cash rebates, information and another level of support.

Enjoy your broadband internet experience.

FullService Broadband Provider provides unbiased, informative and free information on broadband technology. Our service is made available through Try Right Technology, Inc.

Smart Card Operating System Development

Smart card chip operating system (COS) has traditionally been designed with no specific application in mind. However, there are some standard functions which are always required ex: card authentication, terminal authentication, card-holder authentication, read and update access, secured read and updated access etc which are required by every application. This type of COS can be group under the category called general purpose COS. When used as a banking card, monetary value is stored in a file (purse file) protected by update and read access. The read and update access, card & terminal authentication are controlled by secret keys inside the POS terminal. The entire system security relies on the fact that the terminal is trusted.

In a general purpose COS, purse file is debited by letting the POS reads the value, debit the amount to be debited and update back into the file. For security reason, the access to the purse files must be ciphered with a session key. From the security point of view, the rule of need-of-know basis must apply. The POS terminal only required to debit the purse file. However, a general purpose COS will allow update access by the terminal. Thus inherently, the terminal has both debit and credit capability.

Although the terminal is trusted only to perform the debit function, the security design requirements must be very high because if the keys are compromised in a POS terminal, someone may be able to perform credit function based on the secrets inside a POS terminal. A payment COS, besides having read and updated access control for data files must also have credit and debit access for purse files. Thus, a merchant POS terminal only required to debit a banking card only need to know the debit key. Even if the secret in the POS terminal is compromised, no one is able to create money fraudulently. This is a major difference between a general purpose COS and a payment COS.

In a banking application, there may be a requirement to cater for substitute debit during the case whereby goods are rejected (substitute with zero debit amount) or an data entry error by the cashier (substitute debit by another value). A general purpose COS will make use of read and update access to the purse file to implement the substitute debit function, thus having the same security problem. A good payment chip operating system should be able to support this function. It must be noted that a substitute debit is not a credit function and must not implemented like the credit function, ie there is not need to prove the knowledge of the credit key in order to perform this function. Rather, it should rely on the capability of the POS terminal to prove that it is the terminal that performs the previous transaction in order to perform a substitute debit function. Although the substitute debit function may be a very useful feature, the smart card can only ensure that there is a secured mechanism of performing the substitute debit function. The POS terminal and the back-end host are also required to perform the complementary functions to ensure that this feature is implemented securely.

Depending on the weighting of risk and flexibility needed by the issuer, the issuer should be able to select if the substitute debit function is to be totally disabled, to allow only during the current session with the card before the card is pulled-out or can be done any time before another transaction is performed. It must be noted that not all chip operating system that claims to be delegated for payment application is able to support this function.

By the law of physics, if updating of data into a medium is interrupted, the data is corrupted, regardless of whether it is a tape, a disk or a smart card. A general purpose COS and even some payment COS can only detect that the purse file is corrupted. However, a cleverly designed payment COS is able to change a purse file via a dual backup incremental changes of the current and previous balance to always ensure that even if the card is pulled out any time during the update, the balance is not corrupted.

In a banking application, it is very important for the card to not only prove to the terminal that the amount is indeed debited from the card via a Card Debit Certificate (CDC), but also it is done by a particular terminal.

Therefore,

CDC = f(debit amount, terminal certificate, debit key)

The terminal certificate should be unique to a particular terminal and for every transactions. A general purpose COS and even some payment delegated COS is not able to do this.

The POS terminal must verifies the CDC to ensure that the debit command to the card is not intercepted from the card and a fake CDC returned to trick the terminal. But requiring the POS terminal to verify the CDC implies that if the secrets in the terminal are exposed, there may be a potential security problem. In order to prevent this potential security problem, the card must be able to produce a Card Signature Certificate (CSC) to sign the debit transaction with a key not found in the POS terminal. A general purpose COS and even some payment delegated COS is not able to do this.

Credit function is the most sensitive operation in the whole system. There are claims that a single DES operation can be broken easily, if one has lots of money ( 1 million $), very good knowledge of cryptography, a good hardware and semi-conductor ASIC designer to design an application specific IC to perform a DES computation in one clock cycle and have many of such chip in parallel process. Potentially, a double DES may be broken in the future. Thus a triple DES is recognised to be safe even in the future by the experts. Thus, the credit function must require a double or triple DES computation.

SMART CARD CHIP OPERATING SYSTEM SELECTION
It is not the intention of this paper to do a product comparison but to look at the banking card system highest security requirements - what they are, why is it necessary and what is the possible implication if it is not done in the way specified. These should then served as the evaluation criteria to see if there is any smart card command to perform the function. There are many levels of security :

- a layman cannot break the security

- an information technology personnel cannot break the security

- the equipment suppliers cannot break the security

- the system application programmers cannot break the security

- the system designer himself break the security

Also, not all smart cards have the same security. Even if the best security smart card is chosen, the system must also be designed to exercise all security features provided by the smart card and there must not be any weak points in the entire system, of which the smart card is only a very small part but the entire system key management and security architecture relies on.

Adding Images to Your PowerPoint: Public Domain, Royalty-Free, and Rights Managed Photography

The Internet makes it incredibly simple to beef up a
presentation with images on just about any subject. There
are many stock photo websites offering images,
illustrations and vector-based art for a price. Other sites
display “free” photos for anyone to use, with or without
restrictions. Here are three types of copyright restriction
every presenter should know.

Public Domain:
Artwork placed in the Public Domain simply means the
person who created that image has decided not to enforce
any copyright protection. It could be an individual who just
wants to share the work with others, or it could be artwork
created by a government body with public funding. An
example of the latter would be the images of Earth taken by
NASA astronauts. Because the funding for space
exploration came from the Federal Government, NASA
releases their images for public use.

An exception to Public Domain “freedom” is that an image
featuring people or products still have limitations attached. A
photo of a Coca-Cola bottle may find itself into a Public
Domain collection, but the shape of that bottle remains a
trademark of the Coca-Cola Company. Likewise, unless a
model release is on file with the photographer, images with
identifiable people (clear or close-up faces) should be used
with care. Imagine how you would feel if your own image
appeared in a presentation about foot fungus or bad breath!

There is a big difference between something being public,
and Public Domain. It is not legal to use a photograph from
any website just because it is viewable by “the public.” Even
a picture of Granny’s 80th birthday has the same copyright
as the works of Ansel Adams or Dorothea Lange. If you find
an image from an individual’s homepage using a search
engine, it may be as simple as asking permission to use
the file in your show. You might be surprised how many
people would be flattered they had taken a useful shot and
give you the go ahead. Especially for a low profile
presentation in a classroom or a small business meeting.

Royalty-Free:
RF images are generally released for use in any project -
presentations, printed works, and multimedia - and for
extended periods of time. They are often priced by the size of
the image, with larger images costing more than smaller
ones. Restrictions may still apply, especially when it comes
to how the images will be distributed to third parties.

Many websites offering Royalty-Free images combine the
portfolios of numerous artists to create a larger database of
photographs. These artists agree to the Royalty-Free terms
in exchange for compensation, making the website a sort of
middleman to the PowerPoint user. The copyright for an
image is retained by the photographer, and is “loaned” to
the end user for their presentation.

Rights-Managed or Rights-Restricted:
Managed artwork pricing is based on a variety of factors;
length of use; the delivery method; how many people will
see it (impressions); who will see it (public or private), etc.

A photo shown in PowerPoint during a small town church
sermon would cost significantly less than a photo used in a
presentation during the press conference of a new
automobile.

As with Royalty-Free images, the copyright is still held by the
photographer in most cases. A photographer shooting a
specific assignment for a client, or on the payroll of a stock
company may turn over those rights based on
predetermined agreements with the end-user or agency
involved.

Large and notable websites like Corbis and Getty Images
built up their businesses on Rights Managed photography.
Both now offer Royalty-Free options as well. Many of the
smaller Royalty-Free websites, known as “micro-stocks,”
thrive on low prices and high volume.

When using any image in a PowerPoint presentation, it is
important to understand the restrictions involved. When in
doubt, talk it out. Contact the person or agency offering the
photos and know your rights!
