Keep it Cool
So, you have finally won big at the poker table. You had the perfect poker hand, you played according to strategy, and finally you are the big winner. The first impulse is to leap and down with joy, and at least have a big goofy grin on your face. While this may seem like a natural expression of your enjoyment to you, you will aggravate the other players at the table. Remember, that the fact that you won the pot means that they lost the pot. There is no reason to rub that in.
If you think that you can’t control your emotions at the table, feel free to cash out and step away for a moment. Then you can sneak off to a quiet corner and be as excited as you want. You could even find a payphone and make an ecstatic call to a love d on if you need. But, whatever, you do, keep your enthusiasm away from the table. Poker players are not supposed to show their emotions, remember this is the game that put the term “poker face” into common parlance. Keep with this idea, it’s just common courtesy. No one will want to play with you if you get a reputation for not being cool at the table.
