I am from Missouri. The state suprises me the more I explore her. Tonight I am staying in a hotel in Branson, Missouri. Many of you are probably familiar with the city, I am not. Evidentally I was here at the age of 5,… but to be honest, if I can remember something that happened 10 years ago, I am doing pretty good… let alone 27 years ago!

Anyway, enough rambling about my memory condition.

Many folks have visited Silver Dollar City. For those of you that don’t know, SDC is a theme park modeled after the way of life in the hills of the Ozarks. The visitor will witness many craftsmen / craftswomen, one of these are the old-tyme (purposely mispelled) chandlers.

You may see an old man with a long white beard dipping wickes in a vat of wax heated by a fire. To someone who has been making candles for several years, this was an incredible sight. Obviously to the average candle burner, not to great of a spectacle unless that casual candle user has not idea how candles are made… in large factories in China.

Seriously though,… a lot of work goes into hand made candles. Of course many candle companies are born out of a basements, garages, spare rooms, and kitchens. Back in the olde (purposely mispelled) days, convieniences were a rarity. Candle distributers where unheard of, and they definately couldn’t import candles made in foreign countries buy the container full!

The wax was heated over fire… someone manually dipped the wicks. A lot of work, compared to today’s standards, went into making a candle!

Ok… by now you are asking me to get to the point. Next time you purchase a candle or candles (soy or paraffin), do you local chandler a favor and try a truly handmade / hand-dipped candle and check out the difference. Not only the way it looks, but the way it burns, how long it burns, and how it smells. You might be suprised, and you may change your preference in candle purchasing. The subtle differences in the wax alone will amaze you!

One thing is certain. He has lied. He claimed to have been at 90
feet when he fired his weapon. Ballistics would reveal that only
a few BBs would have penetrated the victim (VERY shallow
penetration= minor injuries). By the severity of the wounds you
can reliably figure that Cheney was from 15-18 feet from the
victim when he shot this man in the woods. This would mean that
Cheney perhaps tripped and misfired his weapon- OR, if you want
to go toward a more sinister route, he may have intended to
shoot this 78 year old lawyer. Again, at the very least he lied
about being far away. Any hunter could tell you that bird shot
fired at 90 feet would not do much and would have a very wide
spread(few penetrations- if any). There is also concern about
the fact that police were kept at bay for many hours after the
shooting- something which would land any regular citizen in jail
at least for a while. This would indicate that the Vice
President believes himself to be above the law. Only bad guys
think things like that. If he did lie then the manly thing to do
would be to admit that he lied and tell the entire truth so that
he might not go to prison for as long as he should. This bothers
me much more than the fact that he lied- he has no remorse for
his lies. Maybe he is covering for someone else that was there
and caused the accident. However noble that may be, I think
honesty is pobably one of the most important attributes in a
leader.

- In the 1970’s, Pol Pot, Khmer Rouge leader, killed over 1.7 million of civilians. U.N. secretary General Perez de Quelliar insisted on protecting the Khmer Rouge. Pot was not summond before the tribunal of The Heaghe. The aggression stopped when Vietnam invaded Cambodia, also ignoring the U.N.
The war against Israel:
- In November 1975, the U.N. ruled that Zionism was a form of racism. The U.N. voted 152/1, to call on Israel to rescind a resolution declaring Jerusalem its capital.
- In 1991, Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir commissioned an analysis of U.N. voting towards Israel. From 1967 to 1988, the Security Council passed 88 resolutions directly against Israel, zero resolutions criticized or opposed the actions or perceived interests of an Arab state or body, including the PLO. Israel was condemned 49 times, Arab countries however, not once. In the General Assembly, 429 anti-Israel resolutions were passed in that span. Israel was condemned 321 times; Arab nations not once. The term terrorism was never mentionned.
- The U.N. Human Rights Commission now includes Zimbabwe, China, Ukraine, Algeria, Bahrain, Congo, Libya, Sudan, Russia, Syria, Uganda and Vietnam; not exactly good examples of civil liberty. In April 2002, the commission passed a (pro-terrorist) resolution condoning “armed struggle” to establish a Palestinian state.
- “To the Israelis I say: You must end the illegal occupation,” Annan said, following a long-standing U.N. agenda. “More urgently, you must stop the bombing of civilian areas, the assassinations, and the unnecessary use of lethal force, the demolitions, and the daily humiliations of ordinary Palestinians.” No word was however said about the humiliation of Israelis who hide in their homes in fear of suicide bombers. The word terrorism or suicide bomber was not even mentioned.
- In Somalia 1993, the U.N. failed to successfully deliver food to starving people in Somalia. Local warlords instead usually seized the food. A US/U.N. attempt to apprehend the warlords seizing these shipments resulted in the 1993 Battle of Mogadishu. On October 3, 1993 Somali men, women and children armed with automatic weapons and rocket propelled grenades ambushed elite units of the U.S. Army. Approximately 1000 Somali militiamen and civilians lost their lives in the battle, with injuries to another 3000-4000. More definitely, 18 American soldiers died, and 73 were wounded.
- Srebrenica massacre 1993. Dutch U.N. troops stood by when Serbians under General Ratko Mladic slaughtered more than 7000 Muslims Bosnians in Srebrenica. The Dutch troops pulled out and let it happen after refusal of air support by a U.N. General. The enclave was a “safe area” under U.N. protection. The Dutch Government fell about the matter, but at the U.N. there were no resignations.
The conflict escalated and fights in Kosovo and Macedonia followed. President Clinton together with Nato defended the Kosovars against the Serbian army, this time without a U.N. Security Council resolution.
- The U.N. Failed to prevent the 1994 Rwandan genocide, which resulted in the killings of nearly a million people, due to the refusal of the security council members to approve any necessary military action. The violence and its memory continued to affect the countries in the region. Both the First Congo War and Second Congo Wars trace their origins to the genocide, and it continued to be a reference point for the Burundian Civil War.
- Clinton 1996 urged for action on the Iraqi problem, but France, China and Russia blocked decisive action. Richard Butler chief U.N. weapon’s inspector, warned several times against Sadam Hussein’s ambitions, he was however fired by coffee Anan. Butler was replaced by a weaker figure that showed more respect to the Sadam-regime.
- Concerning the war between Iran and Iraq, the U.N. just made a resolution refraining both countries immediately from any use of force, without ordering Iraq to withdraw his army out of Iran. The members of the U.N. staff administering the program have been accused of gross incompetence, mismanagement, and complicity with the Iraqi regime in perpetrating the biggest scandal in U.N. history. The former director, Benon Sevan had accepted bribes from the Iraqi regime. Also implicated in the scandal is Kofi Annan’s son Kojo Annan, alleged to have illegally procured U.N. Oil-for-Food contracts on behalf of the Swiss company Coctecna.
- U.N. International criminal Court: the Court came into being on April 11, 2002. The first to come under investigation for possible war crimes charges was not Saddam Hussein, Osama Bin Ladin or Robert Mugabe, no, unbelievable but true, it was Tony Blair!
- 2001, A few days before Arab terrorists attacked the U.S. on September 11, U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan was in Durban, South Africa, to attend a U.N. world conference on racism. An event that showed an undisguised anti-Americanism. Delegates from Arab and Third World dictatorships as well as terrorist states vilified the United States and the West and demanded “reparations” for slavery. Among the nations, demanding slave reparations was Sudan, a nation where slavery is still practiced. The Durban conference was hosted by South African President Thabo Mbeki, a former leader of the African National Congress (ANC), a communist-dominated terrorist group. During the 1980s the ANC slaughtered thousands of black South Africans. Yet, Annan described the ANC’s South Africa as “a beacon of enlightenment for the entire world”. The only conclusion of the conference was branding Israel a “racist apartheid state guilty of systematic war crimes, acts of genocide, and ethnic cleansing.”
Conclusion:
The United Nations, an alliance where Syria, one of the main state-sponsors of terrorist organizations is elected to the U.N. security council for a two-year term. Soon resolutions will be approved saying that military aggression only can happen between uniformed opponents, in this way excluding terrorism from the competence of the Council. Systematically, the rules are changed in a way that genocide will be considered as internal affairs of the respective states.
As I already indicated in my previous articles and on my website, I am an advocate of a strong “Western Alliance”. The best the West can do is step out of the United Nations and found a new Council, e.g. “The Western Democratic Allied Nations” and actions should be taken independent of the decisions of the U.N. Actions according the principles of the new Council, Democratic decisions, morally well considered, with distinction between aggressor and defender and considering Human Rights. The “war on terror” must be continued resolutely.
Shortly after the Israeli raid on Entebbe, the American President Ford made a wise declaration: “Freedom is a value which must be fought for in every generation”.

People with more than two actively firing brain cells know something VERY important - price and wage controls DO NOT WORK! People without at such brain function (often known as liberals) never seem to get it.

WorldNetDaily today reports that some of these liberals may actually be starting to fire up some candlepower and figure this out.

Hawaii’s gas price controls, imposed last fall when the cost of fuel was hovering around $3 a gallon in many parts of the U.S., have actually triggered much higher costs for consumers.

High fuel costs in Hawaii are not unusual because they are so far off the mainland that it costs a lot of money to get fuel there which then has to be made up in the final price. Something else liberals never seem to get.

In a recent check Hawaii’s average cost per gallon was $2.84, followed by New York at $2.57, California at $2.53 and Connecticut at $2.47. The least expensive gas in the country is in Utah at $2.13.

Before the gas cap law, Hawaii paid an average of 44 cents more per gallon than the rest of the mainland. Since the law went into effect in September, however, the differential has increased to more than 50 cents per gallon.

Ok, so what have we learned? Price controls do NOT solve the problem! DUH! For a couple thousand dollars I would have been happy to consult with these retards in the government there and saved them all this hassle.

Representative Marcus Oshiro however still can’t quiet bring himself to accept that it has failed claiming that the sate has “achieved price parity with the mainland and in that sense, the law has been working.” What? So BEFORE the law residents of Hawaii paid 44 cents more per gallon and AFTER they are paying 50 cents more and that is called “working”? Only in the mind of a socialist or communist liberal!

Oshiro also took a dig at the oil companies and ALL of us that have stocks invested in them for retirement “oil companies have posted record profits during this period and without greater transparency, we are unable to determine whether the cap has allowed unreasonable profits.” I’ll tell you what “comrade” keep your grubby little bureaucratic hands OFF those “profits”. I personally like the concept of being able to afford my own retirement than have to accept some half-baked state run retirement fund like Social Security!

The lessons learned here will be lost on people like Comrade Oshiro who will be back at trying to institute their brand of left wing government control at the next chance they get.

When I started training Jiu-Jitsu as a system for Self Defense, it became very apparent to me that the students did not take their personal Fitness to a level anywhere near that of competitive Martial Artists or Fighters. Having a competitive Boxing and contact Karate background made me far more conscious of my fitness than many of the people around me. There is not that same goal of getting into tip top condition for an upcoming fight or Tournament because that goal is often preparing for a fight on the street that hopefully would never happen. It is very difficult to sustain a very high level of fitness without a specific goal. Therefore, it is important for the average Student to set their own goals and take their level of fitness to whatever they feel is required for their own situation. Remember why you are training and consider if your fitness will carry you through a real fight, especially if it goes on for more than a few seconds as it most likely will.

Try walking into your local Boxing Club and you’ll be punched by the smell of Sweat on as soon as you walk through the door. The whipping of skipping ropes, rattling of Floor ceiling balls, speed balls, thudding on light and heavy bags, people doing sit-ups, push-ups, pull-ups, shadow sparring and Sparring with their training Pals. The general level of energy is simply impressive. These guys train hard for a couple of hours each night, so then ask yourself; “What kind of match would I be”? Some people have trouble showing their techniques on a compliant partner so are they really going to work on a guy that’s continually pounding them with 3 and 4 punch combinations, dancing around on his toes and can probably keep this up for quite some time.

“I’ll just take him to the ground” you might think but how are you going to react when you’ve been hit hard, maybe even for the first time and your mind has gone blank. Have you trained so much that instinct takes over and your body is reacting automatically? If this guy throws anything other than the right arm swing that your practices have been limited to, you could well be in trouble. This guy may not be a drunken bum throwing a single Hay Maker, trouble can pop up anywhere. These days Road rage for example is even becoming pretty common, here you’ve got someone who steaming from the ears and could really be anyone from any background, trained or untrained. Ensure that in training you have different partners and vary the level of intensity.

You don’t need to train full-on all the time with your techniques but every now and again raise it to a realistic level, it will not only give you an inner confidence that this stuff really works but will give you more of a workout too. If we trained full-on all the time then many would get injuries and you’ll end up having no one to train with. If necessary get your attacker to wear padding to reduce that risk of injury at that higher level. Think for a moment about those guys getting trained up for an upcoming Kick Boxing Match, a full contact Karate fight, Judo or wrestling. They know that if they do not get into Prime condition for that fight, then it’s likely that they’ll get their Ass kicked soon after climbing through the ropes. Needless to say most are pretty well prepared cometh the day.

It’s not to say that you have to get to that level of fitness and keep it all year round but be aware that these guys tick over most of the year with a reasonable level of fitness and then train hard, real hard, during the 5 to 7 weeks leading up to a fight. Attending a class a couple of times per week and practicing your techniques is great for getting your techniques sorted out but take your own Fitness Training into your own hands. Try working on your Stamina, Strength, speed, flexibility etc outside of classes. If you’re going to wear a Club emblem, then wear it with pride and live up to the expectations that other people have of Jitsuka. There is only an hour or two for classes so much of the time has to be taken up practicing and perfecting techniques so make an effort to get some fitness training outside of Jiu-Jitsu classes.

Whatever level you’re at now, try taking your body to that next level of fitness, you may even get to like it! At least you know exactly what it took and what it feels like to be there and get all the benefits that go with it. When you are punching those bags just try to simulate fighting conditions by raising and lowering the tempo. When you go hard, really go for it, when you lighten up think about your defence, movement and striking technique and don’t let up on your speed. Use different strikes; fist, open hands, sides of hands, elbows, knees, shins and feet. Know what it feels like to hit a solid object, otherwise the first thing that you break could be your wrist. Practice striking in combinations, it’s a far better way of getting through to your intended target.

The more you practice your own striking techniques, the more natural they begin to feel and the more instinctively you will react. Don’t just be a head hunter either and give some thought to the many other effective targets that are available. Sparring and grappling is also an essential part of training so do not neglect it. Even if you cannot follow a schedule as laid out here, remember that doing something has got to be better than doing nothing. You are responsible for your own Fitness and Health. We all know that Boxers get themselves into incredible shape for a fight so it should make sense to at least do some of what they are doing and change it as required to suit your style.

A typical simplified boxing type of workout could involve the following:

15 minutes Skipping or running

10×3 min rounds Punch Bag/ Ball work
(Hands and Feet)

3×3 min rounds on focus pads with trainer

3×3 minute rounds of Sparring

Shadow sparring (Wear heavy Gloves)

Static exercises: (10 Reps of each)

Pike Sit Ups
