The History of Video Gaming
Video games have been around for a very long time. There are people all over the world right now who are playing their favorite games both online and offline with friends and family. The truth is that these people are just a small part of a very large piece of history.
Video gaming started with the invention of a special device that hooked up to a consumer’s television set. The small device had two controllers and played a game called “Pong.” This was more or less a table tennis style game, but it ended up taking the world by storm. More and more people began buying this device and it ended up being in the households of millions of people.
A company called Atari took notice and introduced their system, The Atari 2600. This exploded the industry and even more people began buying up games, making it the number 1 past-time in the world. There was a “crash” of the video game industry in the early 1980s, but it was solved by a playing-card company called Nintendo. They introduced their first foray into video games by releasing the Nintendo Entertainment System. This system set the standard for all video game companies to follow.
Now, with Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo being the companies to beat, video games have come a long way and are enjoyed by tens of millions of people each and every day. And we shouldn’t forget that other type of online games like: poker, roulette and slot machines. For more advice on that click here.
